Recognizing the increasing number of students with social and emotional needs, our school has responded with an RtI (Response to Intervention) intervention, called IMPACT, to support our students in their learning. Needing more than the school wide supports (soft skills and PBIS) and other tiered supports (mentoring program, counseling and check in check outs) that were already available, we strategically screened and placed students into a co-taught class with a regular education teacher and a school social worker. In our IMPACT class, we focus on positive values, building self-confidence, and communication skills. The lessons are designed to meet Illinois Social Emotional Learning Standards. Come see how we have built relationships with students to help them grow in these areas.
