Using Literature to Celebrate Diversity in the Elementary Social Studies Classroom

This session will demonstrate how children’s literature can be used as a springboard to the mastery of Illinois Standards in Social Studies.  We’ll look at standards in each discipline, use literature to reinforce the standard, initiate discussions about diversity, and engage in activities that can be used to motivate student learning.
